Q. What is the difference between a spray tan and an airbrush?
Spray tans are administered by our high-tech spray booths and are a wonderful option for people who want to maintain a consistent color all year long, or would rather not have a second person in the room with them.

An airbrush is the perfect solution to people who want a more customized look, whether it’s to cover up tan lines, or give more definition to certain parts of the body. A trained technician sprays you with a handheld spray gun and applies an even coat all over.

Q. How long does it take?
An airbrush can typically take about 20 minutes, including drying time. We usually buffer appointments and keep them 30 minutes apart.

Q. Will I turn orange like Ross?
Most of us tend to remember the Friends episode where Ross turned orange after a spray tan session. Do remember however, technology has come a long way since then, and the solutions we use are designed to create a natural skin color. The darker colors fall in the brown spectrum, not orange.

Q. How frequently would I need to tan to maintain my color?
With proper care, most airbrush tans can last 5-7 days. An airbrush once a week should be sufficient.

Q. What is the best way to prep for my spray tan?
Exfoliate and shave no less than a day before your airbrush. You want a clean, dry, and smooth surface for an even color all over. Stay hydrated to keep your skin from drying out yet stay away from heavy oil based products to keep your skin free of any residue. We highly recommend the Hemp Nation line of moisturizers to do the job right after your shower!

Q. What is the best way to prep right before my spray tan?
Wear loose fitting, dark colored clothes to your session as they may stain. Remove all make-up, jewelry, lotion and deodorant before your appointment, and tie loose hair up and away from the face. Use the barrier cream provided to apply one light layer on your whole hand (the top and palm from the wrist to fingers) and another light layer on the feet, form the ankles down. Rub it in till fully absorbed before applying a second coat to only the palms and heels, where you should have NO color.

Q. What is the best way to prep right after my spray tan?
First, wipe off the barrier cream, and pat yourself dry starting from your feet and working your way up. This will help avoid any streaking and the patting will ensure you don’t develop blotches by wiping off the spray tan. Keep yourself jewelry free with the lightest of make-up to ensure there are no tan lines or smudging. Using an accelerator will not only extend the longevity of your tan, but it will deepen your color and do it faster! We highly recommend the CT Sunless Maximizer, a customer favorite. We highly recommend staying moisture-free for at least 7-8 hours to give your tan a chance to set and start working. This includes showers, sweating, staying out in the rain, or misters on a hot day. Remember to stay hydrated, and keep your skin moisturized after your first shower. With the proper care, your spray tan should last a good 5-7 days!

Q. What do I need to wear during the spray tan?
While tanning, you can stay in a bikini set or underwear, or go nude if you don’t want any tan lines. We do recommend slightly loose clothing and undergarments to wear after that you don’t mind getting a little stained with the spray tan.

Q. What will happen to my tattoo?
While tattoos only get a little darker from spray tans, it is temporary and can be easily wiped down if you don’t like it. You can also use a light layer of barrier cream on it to keep it from getting too much color.
